# Networking & BGP

UP‑NETWORK’s network solutions provide high‑performance IP transit, private tunnels and BGP services from our Swiss infrastructure. All solutions are delivered from our primary PoP in **Gland** with a backup PoP in **Zurich**. Each service includes SwissShield DDoS protection, 24/7 support and BGP sessions to announce your own ASN or prefixes.

## 🌐 Overview

Our network products are built on a fully redundant backbone with direct connectivity to Tier‑1 carriers, multiple peering exchanges and CDN partners. Services are delivered over 10 Gbit/s uplinks with burst capacity up to **20 Gbit/s** and support IPv4/IPv6 with reverse DNS. Commit rates start from **100 Mbps** up to **1 Gbps**, with discounts for quarterly, semi‑annual and annual contracts.

## 🚏 IP Transit & Cross‑Connect (UP‑Connect)

UP‑Connect provides professional IP transit for customers colocated in our datacenter.

* **PoP:** available only at our Gland datacenter.
* **Commit:** start from **300 Mbps**, burst up to **20 Gbit/s**.
* **BGP included:** announce your own prefixes or use ours.
* **99.95 % availability target** and 24/7 support.
* **Optional DDoS protection.**
* **Cross‑connect:** physical interconnect to your rack (housing client eligibility required).

This service is ideal for customers needing high‑performance transit within the datacenter.

## 🌐 UP‑Transport Tunnels (GRE/VXLAN)

UP‑Transport offers secure Layer‑3 (GRE) or Layer‑2/3 (VXLAN) tunnels between your infrastructure and UP‑NETWORK.

* **PoPs:** choose Gland or Zurich for your tunnel endpoint.
* **Commit rate:** 100 Mbps – 1 Gbps (example shown at **300 Mbps**).
* **Tunnel type:** GRE (L3) or VXLAN (L2/L3).
* **Burst capacity:** up to **20 Gbit/s**.
* **BGP session:** included by default.
* **DDoS protection:** optional, +CHF 20/month.
* **Contract periods:** monthly, quarterly (–2 %), semi‑annual (–5 %) or annual (–10 %, installation fee waived).

UP‑Transport is perfect for low‑latency transport between Zurich and Gland, GRE/VXLAN edge‑tunnelling, or building a private network across sites.

## 🧠 BGP-as-a-Service

Customers can activate BGP sessions on any network solution:

* **Bring Your Own IP (BYOIP):** announce your own IPv4/IPv6 prefixes.
* **RPKI & IRR:** compliant with RPKI validation and IRR filtering.
* **Community support:** no-export, blackhole, no-bogon, as well as UP‑NETWORK-specific communities.
* **Blackholing & FlowSpec:** filter DDoS traffic proactively.
* **Secure & Dual‑Port packages:** for redundancy or additional filtering requirements (see pricing in options).

## 🛡 SwissShield™ DDoS Protection

SwissShield provides intelligent DDoS mitigation for all network services:

* **Local mitigation:** attacks up to **20 Gbit/s** are filtered on our Swiss infrastructure using traffic shaping and heuristics (L3‑L7).
* **Automatic overflow:** larger attacks are redirected via BGP to a Voxility scrubbing centre (> 1 Tbps capacity), then clean traffic is forwarded back to your service.
* **Partner scrubbing:** our partner network offers > 1 Tbps of scrubbing capacity with a core network > 3.5 Tbps.
* **Roadmap:** continuous capacity expansion towards complete independence.

SwissShield combines real‑time detection, BGP signalling and hybrid filtering to keep your services online.

## 🏢 Network Infrastructure

* **Points of Presence:**
  * **Gland (Primary):** main network point with optimal connectivity.
  * **Zurich (Backup):** secondary PoP for network redundancy.
* **Network partners:**
  * **Tier‑1 operators** for direct connections.
  * **Peering** at multiple IXPs for efficient traffic exchange.
  * **CDN partners** for content optimisation.
  * **Redundancy:** multiple diverse paths to ensure resilience.

This high‑performance backbone allows us to guarantee low‑latency, reliable connectivity throughout Switzerland and Europe.

## 🔧 Service Options

Customise your networking solution with:

* Additional IPv4 or larger IPv6 blocks.
* Higher commit rates or multiple uplinks.
* Private VLANs and cross‑connects for colocation customers.
* Advanced BGP packages (Basic, Secure, Dual‑Port) depending on security needs.
* Managed GRE/VXLAN configurations.
