# VPS: BASIC AMD, BASIC Intel and PRO Intel

VPS instances are KVM virtual machines operated in Gland. You administer their operating systems and applications. The current catalogue includes BASIC AMD, BASIC Intel, BASIC Intel Micro and PRO Intel. For dedicated resources, see [VDS](/documentation/en/dedicated/vds.md).

BASIC AMD plans use local NVMe SSD storage with shared I/O. BASIC Intel S/M/L and PRO Intel use NVMe-accelerated SAN SSD storage. Published storage limits concern the corresponding Intel plans; they do not automatically apply to AMD plans.

## Addressing, snapshots and options

An **IPv6 /64 is included by default**. The primary IPv4 address is optional on BASIC, including Micro, and one IPv4 address is included on PRO. Check the selected addresses before payment, especially for a project that must remain accessible over IPv4.

BASIC includes one manual snapshot; PRO includes ten. [Scheduled backups](/documentation/en/guides/backups-and-restoration.md), taken daily with seven-day retention, are a separate option. CPU, memory, disk, additional IP addresses and BGP depend on the capabilities of the selected plan.

## Network and availability

Burst bandwidth can reach 10 Gb/s on BASIC and 20 Gb/s on PRO; it does not replace guaranteed bandwidth. Unlimited traffic remains subject to the fair use terms described on the website.

[Standard SwissShield](/documentation/en/ddos/swissshield-ddos-protection.md) is included; permanent scrubbing is optional. BASIC and PRO are **Best Effort**, with no contractual availability percentage by default.
