# Migrate a WordPress website

Each web hosting plan includes migration of one WordPress website, after technical assessment and receipt of the required access details. Ask about feasibility **before ordering** on [the Contact page](https://up-network.ch/contact).

## Prepare the request

Provide the domain, current hosting provider, website size, WordPress/PHP versions, important extensions and availability constraints. For a shop, specify how to avoid concurrent orders or changes during the final copy.

Identify email, DNS and other applications associated with the domain. Moving WordPress must not cause the loss of records for an email service hosted elsewhere.

The team tells you which access details are required and how to send them securely. The date depends on compatibility, access details and the website’s constraints.

## Check before switching

The copy must include the files and database. Test pages, media, forms, administrator login and business functions in the new environment. Check HTTPS and any domain-related links or redirects.

For a website that changes during migration, agree on a final synchronisation window. Keep a backup and the original website available until the switch is validated.

## Go live

Change the agreed [DNS records](/documentation/en/guides/domains-and-dns.md) once testing is complete. Monitor access, errors and email exchanges after the change. DNS caches may temporarily cause the old and new paths to coexist.

Plesk and WP Toolkit are then used to manage the website. Maintenance of your extensions, themes and content still needs to be arranged according to your administration or managed services scope.

For migration of several websites, an email service or another platform, request the corresponding scope and quote.
